As some middle and high schools have begun restructuring their classrooms and curriculums to allow for and encourage laptop usage, the debate has only intensified. As administrators at those schools and proponent of laptops in classrooms have argued, laptops open a new range of possibilities for classroom engagement and help the environment by saving paper. However, as other school officials and opponents of laptops have pushed back on, laptops can also present a wide range of distractions for students and have proven to be not as effective in conducting learning as traditional handwritten notes.
